Revision sheet
Partial nephrectomy (nephron-sparing)
6 steps, each one the authored title and caption from the interactive animation, with the frame captured from that step. Read it before the case, or print it and work through the steps in order.
Teaching only, not for diagnosis or treatment decisions. The text on this sheet is the animation's own step copy, reproduced verbatim.

Read the model
- Pre-operative imaging decides this operation: an exophytic upper-pole tumour, depth into the parenchyma, and the arterial branch map.
- The margin is planned before the clamp goes on.
- 02
Hilum exposed + artery slung
- The colon is reflected and the renal artery skeletonised enough to clamp it cleanly.
- The vein is exposed but usually not clamped.
- 03
Clamp + excision
- The bulldog closes and the kidney pales: the warm ischaemia clock is running.
- Cold-scissors excision takes the tumour with a thin visible rim of normal parenchyma.
- 04
Inner layer (renorrhaphy 1)
- The base is inspected: any opened calyx or vessel is closed with the running inner layer.
- This layer is what stops a urine leak, and it is closed now, under clamp, not later.
- 05
Outer layer (renorrhaphy 2)
- A sliding-clip outer layer re-approximates the capsule over a bolster.
- Haemostasis by compression, designed to hold once the artery reopens.
- 06
Reperfusion + check
- The clamp comes off and colour returns.
- Watch the bed: a ooze settles with pressure and patience; delayed bleeding days later is a pseudoaneurysm until proven otherwise.
Derived from PartialNephrectomyScene.tsx at build time: every step title and caption above is the authored
ProcedureDef text, reproduced verbatim, and this page shares its readable-points renderer with the animation
itself. 6 of 6 steps have a captured frame.
Text fingerprint 38fbb7ef1f6b5e95. A caption edit without a re-capture fails the production
check, so the sheet and the animation cannot drift apart silently.
