The kidney is taken out, repaired on ice where the surgeon can see and there is no bleeding and no clock running warm, and put back into the same patient's iliac fossa next to the bladder, so that a ureter that has been lost or an artery that cannot be fixed in place no longer matters.
This page is the rare indication, the planning, the nephrectomy with its vessels kept long, the bench, the two anastomoses to the iliac vessels, the reperfusion, the short new route to the bladder, and the thrombosis that loses the kidney in the first day.
