Aquablation: the planned waterjet

6 steps, each one the authored title and caption from the interactive animation, with the frame captured from that step. Read it before the case, or print it and work through the steps in order.

Teaching only, not for diagnosis or treatment decisions. The text on this sheet is the animation's own step copy, reproduced verbatim.

    Who gets the waterjet

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 1: Who gets the waterjet. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • The bigger gland, up to 150 g, ejaculation kept in most, a resection that is the same every time.
    • Consent names bleeding first: transfusion in a few per cent, a return to theatre, irrigation overnight.
  2. 02

    The set-up

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 2: The set-up. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Lithotomy under general or spinal anaesthetic.
    • The transrectal probe on its arm, the 24 French handpiece passed under vision and locked to the same arm so the two cannot move against each other; the veru behind its tip, the neck ahead.
  3. 03

    The plan on the ultrasound

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 3: The plan on the ultrasound. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Sagittal then transverse: the contour to remove from the neck to short of the veru, the depth set to the capsule on each slice, the sphincter safe zone with the jet turned down, the neck contour sparing the orifices.
  4. 04

    The jet

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 4: The jet. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Pedal down: a high-pressure saline jet sweeps its arc and retracts along the plan, cutting without heat.
    • Endoscope and ultrasound watched together; the pedal comes off if the field is lost.
    • Four to six minutes to the contour.
  5. 05

    Haemostasis

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 5: Haemostasis. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Handpiece out, resectoscope in, the cavity inspected.
    • Focal cautery at the neck at five and seven o'clock where the arteries enter; the raw bed is left to the catheter.
  6. 06

    The catheter and the note

Aquablation: the planned waterjet. Step 6: The catheter and the note. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • A 22 French three-way, the balloon filled large and pulled onto the neck for traction, irrigation overnight until rosé, traction off in the morning, the haemoglobin checked.
    • The note: plan volume, resection time, cautery, landmarks seen.

Derived from endoscopy/AquablationScene.tsx at build time: every step title and caption above is the authored ProcedureDef text, reproduced verbatim, and this page shares its readable-points renderer with the animation itself. 6 of 6 steps have a captured frame.

Text fingerprint 9a55338220289443. A caption edit without a re-capture fails the production check, so the sheet and the animation cannot drift apart silently.
