Revision sheet
Optical urethrotomy (DVIU)
6 steps, each one the authored title and caption from the interactive animation, with the frame captured from that step. Read it before the case, or print it and work through the steps in order.
Teaching only, not for diagnosis or treatment decisions. The text on this sheet is the animation's own step copy, reproduced verbatim.

- 01
Cystoscopy to the stricture
- The 30-degree lens runs from the meatus over the bulbar curve until the lumen pinholes.
- The scope stops there: nothing crosses a stricture blind.
- 02
Wire through the lumen
- A guidewire passes through the pinhole under vision and coils in the bladder.
- Everything that follows is railroaded over it.
- 03
Cold knife at 12 o’clock
- The Sachse blade divides the fibrotic ring at 12 o’clock, where the spongiosum is thinnest and the lateral vessels furthest away.
- 04
Open the lumen
- The cut is deepened until the ring springs open and the scope passes freely into the bladder to check the whole urethra.
- 05
Catheter
- A catheter is railroaded over the wire and the balloon is inflated in the bladder.
- The catheter drains and splints the incised urethra; the balloon retains it, rather than tamponading the urethral cut.
- 06
Trial without catheter
- Catheter out early, the first void timed and measured.
- Flow rates anchor follow-up, and the recurrence conversation happened at consent.
Derived from DviuScene.tsx at build time: every step title and caption above is the authored
ProcedureDef text, reproduced verbatim, and this page shares its readable-points renderer with the animation
itself. 6 of 6 steps have a captured frame.
Text fingerprint a4102a275fbde087. A caption edit without a re-capture fails the production
check, so the sheet and the animation cannot drift apart silently.
