Rezum water-vapour therapy

7 steps, each one the authored title and caption from the interactive animation, with the frame captured from that step. Read it before the case, or print it and work through the steps in order.

Teaching only, not for diagnosis or treatment decisions. The text on this sheet is the animation's own step copy, reproduced verbatim.

    Who gets vapour

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 1: Who gets vapour. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • 30 to 80 g, a median lobe allowed, a day-case under local anaesthetic.
    • Consent: retention is expected, dysuria and urgency for weeks, and the effect comes at one to three months.
  2. 02

    The device and the limits

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 2: The device and the limits. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Gel, a block or sedation, antibiotics.
    • The device (typically 18 French) in under vision.
    • The veru is the distal limit and the neck the proximal one; the length between decides the number of treatments.
  3. 03

    The first treatment

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 3: The first treatment. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • At nine o'clock the needle goes a centimetre into the right lobe, through the urethra into the transition zone.
    • Nine seconds of vapour at about 103 degrees spreads between the cells and stops at the capsule.
    • The mucosa blanches.
  4. 04

    The map

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 4: The map. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • A centimetre further toward the veru on the same lobe, then the left at three from the neck toward the veru: two to three treatments a side, the last angled away from the veru.
  5. 05

    The median lobe

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 5: The median lobe. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Treated from the neck at six o'clock with the needle angled away from the trigone and the orifices behind it.
    • Never into the bladder; a look from the bladder side confirms the needle went into the lobe.
  6. 06

    The end of the day

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 6: The end of the day. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Five to seven treatments and the device out; the urethra already swelling.
    • A catheter for three to seven days because oedema obstructs before involution; antibiotics, an alpha-blocker, the warning about the first fortnight.
  7. 07

    The weeks after

Rezum water-vapour therapy. Step 7: The weeks after. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • The treated zones necrose and are resorbed; the lobes shrink and the channel opens without anything having been cut.
    • Scores fall by about half at three months; ejaculation is usually kept.

Derived from endoscopy/RezumScene.tsx at build time: every step title and caption above is the authored ProcedureDef text, reproduced verbatim, and this page shares its readable-points renderer with the animation itself. 7 of 7 steps have a captured frame.

Text fingerprint 2d5f778764f25fd7. A caption edit without a re-capture fails the production check, so the sheet and the animation cannot drift apart silently.
