A ureteric stone, a temperature and a blood pressure that is starting to fall: pus under pressure in a closed system, draining into the blood.
The only treatment is to let it out, by nephrostomy or by stent, within hours of the diagnosis and after the antibiotics and the fluids have started, and to leave the stone entirely alone until the patient is well.
This page is the recognition, the sepsis bundle, the CT, the choice of route, the technique of each, the pus, and the definitive treatment weeks later.
