Revision sheet

Bladder neck incision (TUIP)

7 steps, each one the authored title and caption from the interactive animation, with the frame captured from that step. Read it before the case, or print it and work through the steps in order.

Teaching only, not for diagnosis or treatment decisions. The text on this sheet is the animation's own step copy, reproduced verbatim.

  1. 01

    Who gets an incision

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 1: Who gets an incision. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • The prostate under thirty grams, the high bladder neck, the younger man: obstruction without adenoma worth resecting.
    • Consent names retrograde ejaculation, less than after TURP.
  2. 02

    Cystoscopy: the landmarks

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 2: Cystoscopy: the landmarks. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • Sphincter, veru, the short prostatic urethra, the tight neck, and in the bladder both orifices and their distance from the neck: the incision starts distal to them and stops short of the veru.
  3. 03

    The Collings knife

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 3: The Collings knife. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • A fine wire electrode on cutting current, drawn toward the sheath like a loop.
    • Placed just inside the neck at seven o'clock, distal to the orifice, with the scope drawn back so the knife runs toward the veru.
  4. 04

    The incision at seven o'clock

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 4: The incision at seven o'clock. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • One straight line from just inside the neck to short of the veru, deeper each stroke: the neck fibres part and the ring springs open.
  5. 05

    The same line, checked

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 5: The same line, checked. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • The seven o'clock line again, from the neck toward the veru, the same depth along its length.
    • The veru is looked at between strokes.
  6. 06

    Haemostasis and the check

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 6: Haemostasis and the check. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • The neck sprung open into a wide channel.
    • A bleeding point at the edge of the cut is touched with the button, not run along; the orifices are seen again with their jets.
  7. 07

    The catheter and the note

Bladder neck incision (TUIP). Step 7: The catheter and the note. Captured frame from the interactive animation.
    • A 20 or 22 French catheter overnight, usually without irrigation, out in the morning.
    • The note: the site, the depth reached, the orifices and the veru intact, the plan.

Derived from endoscopy/TuipScene.tsx at build time: every step title and caption above is the authored ProcedureDef text, reproduced verbatim, and this page shares its readable-points renderer with the animation itself. 7 of 7 steps have a captured frame.

Text fingerprint 649823cef5322cde. A caption edit without a re-capture fails the production check, so the sheet and the animation cannot drift apart silently.
